Super Kids: Harnoor Gill – no age limit for volunteering
Raj sent a lot of inspiration today, when he wrote to us about a volunteer driven initiative – Peace Welcome Club and the person behind it – Harnoor Gill. That one email started a chain of inspiration when I read how children as young as 4-year-old are volunteering!

They are not only sensitive about the social and development issues we are facing today; they are also taking action towards them! When he was just three years old, Harnoor Gill’s parents introduced him to volunteering through community service. Since then his passion for volunteering has grown many times over. High school students in Canada have to complete a mandatory 40 hours volunteer work. But the 40 hours community work is just the beginning for Harnoor. Dedicating afterschool hours and weekends to volunteering, Harnoor has volunteered towards raising environment awareness; youth matters and fundraising with many non-profit organisations like Halton Children’s Aid Society, Spelling Bee of Canada, Willow Park Ecology Centre, P.O.W.E.R. (Protect Our Water and Environmental Resources), Georgetown Hospital Foundation and 820 Chris Hadfield Air Cadets.
In 2012, when he was only 14, Harnoor started Peace Welcome Club (PWC). The club encourages children (between 4 to 18 years of age) to become more involved in the community by providing different volunteering opportunities. PWC runs various projects such as Book Drive to help children in need; the Jean Green drive to collect new or gently used jeans for those with lesser means and Shoreline clean-up to raise awareness towards endangered Marine wild life.
